City Giving Day 2021 is upon us once more, but what’s it all about and why is the Square Mile so excited for the latest edition?
The biggest day in the Lord Mayor’s Appeal calendar, City Giving Day is synonymous with business in the City of London.
Here’s everything you need to know about City Giving Day 2021.
What is City Giving Day?
City Giving Day is an annual event that enables businesses in the City to celebrate and showcase philanthropic achievements, while encouraging others to do the same. Now a staple in the City’s calendar, City Giving Day is there to unite employers and employees in the Square Mile through charity and community partnerships.
When is it all kicking off?
City Giving Day will be held on Tuesday September 21 with a raft of activities and fundraising events taking place all over the Square Mile all day.
What is happening for the 2021 edition?
You can take part and organise your own events or, if you would rather, you could sign up to take part in one of the City Giving Day events organised by or on behalf of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal. These include the leg-burning Tour de City and Tour de Wharf static Wattbike challenges, walks all over the Square Mile, treasure hunts and quiz nights. Which charities benefit from City Giving Day?
City Giving Day works with City firms to lend a helping hand to charities, community groups and those working to protect the environment. City Giving Day’s charity partners include Samaritans, Place2Be, The Duke of Edinburgh Award and On Side Youth Zones.
Has City Giving Day had an impact?
Last year an estimated £300,000 was raised for charities and good causes. Nearly 96 percent of the participating companies would recommend City Giving Day to others, while more than seven in ten (72 percent) of those who took part said it helped promote and celebrate charitable activity.
