Well, we’ve found the reason for the avocado shortage.

Gird your Instagram feeds for the deluge of pancake stacks, pretty pastries and poached egg porn emerging from the first ever London Brunch Fest, which is on at Old Truman Brewery on 1 and 2 September.

There are few details about what to expect from this inaugural gathering of cafes, street food vendors and breakfast brands that are the reason most Londoners get out of bed on a weekend morning, however confirmed heavyweights making appearance include Maltby Street Market’s Waffle On, Antipodean-inspired cafe Urban Pantry and kitschy Clapton favourite Cafe Miami.

The line-up also takes a worldly view on the morning meal with West African fayre from Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen, breakfast buritos from Benito’s Hat and dim sum dishes from On Cafe.

Each vendor will be serving a special festival menu for the event as well as one signature dish and patrons can vote for their favourite to win the coveted ‘Dish of the Festival’.

Origin Coffee Roasters and The Gentleman Baristas will take care of the coffee, while The Pickle House and Urban Coffee Co are doing Bloody Marys, prosecco, mimosas and cocktails for those who like their brunches boozy.

“London is one of the best cities in the world for brunch,” he said.

“There are so many great restaurants and chefs doing really interesting things in the space, I wanted to bring that all together for a weekend, along with great coffee and drink in one of the city’s coolest event spaces.”
