Southbank Centre x Montreux Jazz Festival

(31 January- 2 February)

The Southbank Centre’s new collaboration with Montreux Jazz Festival kicks off at the end of January for a three day weekend of live jazz to celebrate Nina Simone’s extraordinary legacy. The residency opens with the Nu Civilisation Orchestra and special guests including Corinne Bailey Rae, led by conductor Peter Edwards in the Royal Festival Hall (31 Jan) Meanwhile, the saxophonist and rapper Soweto Kinch brings a world premiere from his new album, Soundtrack to the Apocalypse (1 Feb). The residency will launch a three-year creative partnership exploring the question ‘What is Jazz Today?’.

ETM Collective

New year can bring a reset, a fresh start, to our working lifestyles. A new survey conducted by ETM Collective, London’s premier collection of dining venues, has shown that 7 in 10 London workers fully skip their lunch break on a weekly basis. Over 50% of London millennial workers also feel that having lunch with their boss would help improve their working relationship. To tackle this, ETM Collective will be encouraging workers to take their lunch break fully next month and build closer relationships with their fellow colleagues by BYOB – bringing your own boss. Each worker or group of workers that take their boss out for lunch to any ETM Collective restaurant in January, ETM will cover the boss’ cost and ensure they dine out for free.

The Hummingbird Bakery

Known for its beautifully baked, sweet treats is shunning the blues and instead is celebrating Pink Monday on Monday 20th January with £1 pink cupcakes. The American style bakery believes we should start the year on a high (and as you mean to go on), so that means celebrating joy, treats and fabulousness with cake! Customers can head to one of The Hummingbird Bakery’s six stores on Monday 20th January and get their £1 pink cupcakes to start the year right, with a smile on their faces. Whilst stocks last.

Burns Night Barrel-Top Tasting

23rd January

Robert Burns is a Scottish hero, celebrated every year with the raising of a dram and the reading of his verse. Last year we held a barrel-top tasting in his honour and 2025’s is going to be even bigger, bringing together even more whiskies from across Scotland. By way of our own celebration, we are hosting a barrel-top tasting with more than 16 Scotch whisky brands across our three central London stores. These barrel-top tastings are a more informal way to learn more about the world of drinks, letting you pick and choose your own way through the drinks being poured at your own pace.

Places are available across our stores in Covent Garden, Great Portland Street and London Bridge.
Date: 23 January 2025
Time: 7.30pm – 9.30pm
Price: £10 with £5 off any purchase over £15 on the night.
