Aldgate Business Forum boasted the High Commissioner of India at its latest meeting of business minds, with British-India relations post-Brexit top of the agenda.

Yashvardhan K Sinha was introduced by Aldgate alderman and forum founder Peter Hewitt, who identified the three ‘T’s’ of transition, talent and trade as the pillars on which Brexit should be built.

“The City welcomed the political agreement on transition concluded at the March 2018 European Council, but there we do have a concern that this agreement is not legally binding, considering the exit agreement between the UK and EU will not be finalised and ratified until March 2019,” he said.

“Therefore, in addition to political agreement, businesses need reassurance on transition from both the EU and the UK regulators. The statements from the Bank of England and FCA in December, confirmed in March, were a positive step in this direction.”
