Armed officers from the City of London Police have detained a man believed to have been carrying a firearm at St Paul’s Cathedral.
Responding to reports, the force mobilised at around 12.05pm today, arresting the suspected gunman behind One New Change.
Following reports of an armed man at #StPaulsCathedral, we can confirm we’ve arrested a man who we believe to be in possession of a firearm at 12.05 today. He was detained behind One New Change by armed officers. There is no indication this incident is terror-related at this time

Officers put a cordon in place at one entrance to the landmark while they conducted their investigation.
However, the church does remain open to tourists and worshippers.
A spokesperson said that there was “no indication this incident is terror-related at this time.”
