Can stirring a bowl of steaming hot soup really calm a chaotic commute or mitigate a manic morning of meetings?

That’s the premise behind the world’s first ‘wellness shed’ popping up in Shoreditch on 19 October with a virtual reality mindfulness experience designed to deliver some peace and tranquillity as well as promote the idea of mindful cooking and eating.

The shed, launched by ready-made soup brand Glorious, challenges participants to stir a pot of soup as slowly as possible to demonstrate the benefits of taking a few moments to be mindful.

Dr Barbara Mariposa, author of The Mindfulness Playbook, said: “Cooking and eating are just some of the many opportunities we have to slow down and savour the moment.

“Taking time to really experience the texture, colour, flavour and smell of food as you cook it then eat it really helps you have a multi-sensory experience, which is wonderful for your wellbeing.”

Glorious Soups’ Wellness Shed opens on 19 October for one day only at Creative Debuts, 115 Curtain Rd, London EC2A
