Leadenhall Market’s annual Christmas festivities kicked off the other week with their epic switching on of the lights party. It was led by the new Lord Mayor, William Russell, and a whole host of other VIP guests.

But it doesn’t begin and end there for Leadenhall Market festive celebrations. Prepare yourselves for their very own 12 days of Christmas between 2 and 13 December.

For 12 days they’ll be hosting a series of merry events all around the expansive market (both in the corridor and individual stores). With a stunning 30ft Christmas tree in the heart of the market, thousands a twinkling fairy lights and the traditional red and green colour scheme of the market, Leadenhall is very possibly the most festive destination in the City.

Visitors will find some of the finest contemporary dining, high street brand shops and independent traders at Leadenhall, all under one glorious roof. But their 12 days of Christmas go far beyond that.

Read on to discover all the Christmas inspired events running at this year’s 12 Days of Christmas series at Leadenhall Market.

Christmas Music Festival

Between 9 and 16 December, Leadenhall Market will play host to a Christmas music festival – both day and night. There is no better place to experience Christmas carols and our very favourite festive tunes. Grab a few pints from the pub and sway to the Mariah Carey and Michael Buble hits after work. We’re sure the older classics will also be played throughout the festival. They will be performing in front of the Markets stunning Christmas tree and entertaining visitors at lunchtime and early evening. Expect the likes of the City Chamber Choir, Ivy Knights, Beth Sherburn and a whole host of other young and emerging artists to hit the stage.

Snow at Leadenhall

Snow will be falling from the rafters throughout most days leading up to Christmas this year. This is a first for Leadenhall Market. Obviously, it is fake snow, but it does create a wonderfully seasonal atmosphere with snowflakes flurrying underneath the market roof as visitors go on drinking, eating and shopping. It’s not as chilly and wet as the real thing but definitely just as festive!

Mistletoe Kissing Booth

The much adored kissing booth is back again this year. It’s a stunning floral decorated seat, courtesy of market florist Windsor Flowers. Visitors are encouraged to pucker up and take a snap on the seat – and share on social channels. A beautiful addition to the market this Christmas which helps to spread the love.

Harry Potter Christmas Celebration

Join your favourite wizards; Harry, Hermione and Ron for a special day of magical fun in the public spaces of the market all day on Saturday 21 December. They will be meeting and greeting market visitors, running wand making workshops and broom stick flying lessons all day long for both young and old Harry Potter fans out there. There’s no shame in adults donning their robes and witch hats on this day (except perhaps on the tube ride in). All activities are free and there is no need to pre book so that’s a huge bonus. In the home of Diagon Alley, where better to celebrate the world’s most famous wizard?
