We can’t put together this list without mentioning ROAST. Famous for its spectacular contemporary take on a Sunday lunch, the restaurant, located just off Borough Market, has put together a menu with a festive twist this Christmas. Catering to all tastes and preferences, ROAST’s festive menu includes a duo of featherblade and bavette steaks, roast monkfish loin with chestnut and scallion broth, a vegan wellington with truffle cauliflower and, of course, a roast turkey. Christmas at ROAST

Veggies skip over this one. One of the best steakhouses in London, Hawksmoor is also well-known for its Sunday roast offering.  Head to the restaurant in the heart of the City this Christmas and tuck into the signature Sunday lunch. Cooked over charcoal before finishing in the oven to get a traditional spit-roast flavour, the slow roast rump comes with beef dripping roast potatoes, roasted shallots and lashings of bone marrow gravy. If you have any room left, finish off your meal with one of their decadent puddings. You’ll not be sorry as you take a bite of the sticky toffee pudding.

Located in Shoreditch, the British chophouse is housed in an ex-warehouse space with exposed brick and concrete floors. Despite being extremely trendy, Blacklock is a winner when it comes to traditional Sunday roasts. The cool and quirky restaurant is a fantastic place to order a roast dinner with friends in the run-up to Christmas. Simple, yet delicious, you can choose from a 55-day-aged beef rump, a 28-day-aged lamb leg or a 21-day-aged pork loin. With your roast placed on mismatched and vintage plates, and drinks served on a trolley wheeled round to your table, Blacklock is the festive nostalgia you didn’t realise you needed until now.
