Gloria

Big Mamma Group’s Shoreditch venture, Gloria, is not only a delight for the stomach but a feast for the eyes too. This stunning restaurant boasts the look and feel of Capri in the 1970s with it’s distinctive interiors.

To kick off the evening, we began with some cocktails, we’d highly recommend trying the Pearini. For starters, the home-made warm focaccia with oregano is a great shout. The hardest decision you’ll probably make when dining here is whether to opt for pizza or pasta – either way you won’t be disappointed. On this occasion, we opted for pizza, the dancing queen, priced at £18.50. The pizza’s soft dough adorned with tomato sauce, mozzarella di bufala and prosciutto crudo is the perfect comfort food to end the week.

However, the real star of the show for the team at City Matters is the sweet dishes on offer. The home-made profiterole, gelato al pistachio with pistachio spread, topped with indulgent dark chocolate sauce is absolutely divine. The army of staff that Gloria’s houses is also worth noting, each course is delivered in a speedy manner and with a smile. The perfect spot to catch up with the girls for lunch or date night with that special someone.

Pizza Pilgrims

It really doesn’t matter how many times that the team at City Matters visits Pizza Pilgrims, we’re consistently impressed with the great tasting pizza, delightful drinks and warm hospitality on offer at this spot. With a few dotted around the City, our Pizza Pilgrims of choice is the Liverpool Street Branch. If you’re after a slice of margherita heaven then it’s almost mandatory that you try the margherita extra-extra. However, if you like you’re pizza with a bit of a kick, then the nduja is a great option. However, the star of the show for the team at City Matters is the Ferrero Rocher Espresso Martini. We also love the casual feel of Pizza Pilgrims, it’s great for that lunch-time fix with colleagues or for meeting friends after work. This pizza spot is an absolute favourite at the City Matters headquarters and it’s with good reason.

Italian Cuisine Lovers: Lina Stores

Lina Stores, is the latest addition to Broadgate Circle’s dining scene and more importantly, a foodie haven for lovers of Italian cuisine.

The food here is an absolute dream. Highlights from the menu, include, the fried ricotta and herb gnudi with Calabrian chilli marmelleta. We tried the Lina Stores’ staple; the 30-egg yolk taglioni with black truffle. For something a little sweet, we highly recommend dabbling in their tiramisu, you won’t be disappointed.

The restaurant has been designed with Lina Stores’ traditional pastel green colour palette in mind and a terrace overlooking the bustle of Broadgate Circle.
